on november 30, the first heliostat of the red stone solar thermal project department in south africa was successfully installed.
the heliostat is an important part of the concentrating and heat collecting system of the tower type photo thermal power station. the project adopts small mirror type and is densely distributed. there are 41260 heliostats in the mirror field area. each heliostat is composed of 4 mirrors.
in order to ensure the smooth progress of on-site work, the project department planned in advance to overcome the adverse impact of the epidemic situation on the supply of materials. before installation, special inspections were carried out on key materials such as special tools and instruments, mirror posts, mirror surfaces, etc., and safety technical disclosure and pre job simulation training were carried out for construction personnel to ensure that the construction was excellent at one time.
the project is located in north cape town province, with abundant light resources. the project is expected to deliver 480gwh of electricity to the grid every year, providing stable power supply to more than 200,000 households in south africa.
