How to Know If You Are an Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs are born, or at least, the entrepreneurial spirit is one that a person is usually born with. This incorporates that drive and hunger to succeed that makes one move from one business opportunity to another. However, entrepreneurs are also made. There are those who were made out of necessity or out of extreme poverty, and others who were made just by watching another entrepreneur and becoming inspired. Steph Korey

It is important to note that not all those in business are entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurialism is much more than just making money or having financial success and embodies an attitude towards life. It is in fact, a way of life.

All successful entrepreneurs anywhere in the world have passion. They are passionate about what they do, which is usually making money. If you love to make money for the sake of it and are constantly looking out for opportunities to do so, then you might very well be an entrepreneur. The bar has shifted a bit though with the rise of the social entrepreneur, who is passionate not just about money, but also about the social good that can be done through money.

One of the hallmarks of great entrepreneurism is looking into an already existing structure and looking for the loopholes. Entrepreneurs want to fulfill a need because they realize that by meeting an existing need which is being unmet at that moment, they are creating an opportunity which might not have existed before then. If you look at an existing service in your community or elsewhere and see a loophole where a particular need is being unmet, then begin to devise ways to meet that need, you most likely are an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs create opportunities. They do not just sit and wait for opportunity to come to them; they actively go out and seek it. An entrepreneur is constantly thinking, ‘how can I profit from this?’

Finally, entrepreneurs never stop learning. They read books on how to be better entrepreneurs or how to make millions. They read up and study great entrepreneurs in their communities and abroad. In every situation they find themselves, they relentlessly ask, ‘what lesson can I learn from this?’ and apply those lessons in their next ventures. Entrepreneurs never take anything for granted, and always research before they make a move.

If you find that you have a combination of the above skills or attributes, then you might be destined to become an entrepreneur. If in combination to the above factors, you absolutely hate not being your own boss, then you definitely are destined to become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs do not stumble into wealth neither is it handed them on a platter. They go after it, even if they do not succeed at first.
