on 2 november, awaidha murshed al marar, minister of energy of abu dhabi, visited the project and congratulated unit 2 on its successful grid connection. farid al awlaqi, executive director of abu dhabi national energy company (taqa), the investor representatives were bakheet al katheeri, executive director of mubadala, kashif rana, chief investment management officer of acwa, chen yunpeng, kong lingfeng and other deputy general managers of the company.
during the on-site inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the on-site project and congratulated the teams of the project for their close cooperation in overcoming the epidemic and successfully connecting the no. 2 unit to the grid.
on may 28, 2019, the company signed the abu dhabi tawil desalination epc general contract project with its rich general contract performance of seawater desalination project, unique resource integration ability of the whole epco industrial chain and excellent execution of epc general contract project. the 900,000 cubic meters per day project, located near the persian gulf coastline about 50 kilometers northeast of downtown abu dhabi, is the largest reverse osmosis desalination project under construction in the world and an important livelihood project for abu dhabi.
on december 7, 2021, unit 1 of the project was officially connected to the municipal pipe network, marking the successful connection of qualified drinking water of the project to the grid. on june 9, 2022, the cod of unit 1 of the project was completed, marking that unit 1 was officially put into commercial operation. on november 1, 2022, the project unit 2 was connected to the grid successfully.
